The use of empirical data sources in HRA

چکیده
This paper presents a review of available information related to human performance to support Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) performed for nuclear power plants (NPPs). A number of data sources are identified as potentially useful. These include NPP licensee event reports, augmented inspection team reports, operator requalification data, results from the literature in experimental psychology, and the Aviation Safety Reporting System. The paper discusses how utilizing such information improves our capability to model and quantify human performance. In particular, the paper discusses how information related to performance shaping factors can be extracted from empirical data to determine their size effect, their relative effects, as well as their interactions. The paper concludes that appropriate use of existing sources can help addressing some of the important issues we are currently facing in HRA. q 2003 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

An Empirical Investigation into Causality of Unsafe Act and Recovery during EOP Simulation
A data collection worksheet and guideline to collect HRA (Human Reliability Analysis) data with simulator data sources were developed for the HRA data handbook project by KAERI. Using the data worksheet, simulator data were collected and analyzed for an HRA qualitative database. The purpose of this paper is to define the causalities of operators’ UAs (Unsafe Acts) ending in an inappropriate com...
متن کاملProbabilistic Safety Assessment and Management PSAM 12, June 2014, Honolulu, Hawaii Qualitative Data Collection for Human Reliability Analysis in the Offshore Petroleum Industry
Effective Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) requires both a qualitative analysis of potential human errors and a quantitative assessment of the likelihood of those errors. One of the main conclusions from an International HRA Empirical Study is the importance of qualitative analysis when performing HRA. Although qualitative data collection is relatively well established for HRA in the nuclear in...
متن کاملEvaluation of Human Reliability by Standardized Plant Analysis Risk HRA (SPAR-H) method in the Dialysis Process in Ebne Sina Hospital, Shiraz
Background and Objectives: Human errors in dialysis care can cause injury and death. One of the basic steps to increase reliability in this critical process is to analyze the error and identify the weaknesses of doing this process. Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytic cross-sectional study. The SPAR-H method was used to identify and evaluate the probability of human error in th...

The US Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) Empirical Study (referred to as the US Study in the article) was conducted to confirm and expand on the insights developed from the International HRA Empirical Study (referred to as the International Study). Similar to the International Study, the US Study evaluated the performance of different HRA methods by comparing method predictions to actual crew pe...
متن کاملAn Empirical Comparison of Performance of the Unified Approach to Linearization of Variance Estimation after Imputation with Some Other Methods
Imputation is one of the most common methods to reduce item non_response effects. Imputation results in a complete data set, and then it is possible to use naϊve estimators. After using most of common imputation methods, mean and total (imputation estimators) are still unbiased. However their variances (imputation variances) are underestimated by naϊve variance estimators. Sampling mechanism an...
